Dr. Mehandar Kumar

Dr. Mehandar Kumar is a distinguished physician leader specializing in Internal Medicine, Hematology and Oncology, recognized for his commitment to clinical excellence,
patient-centered care, and physician education. Board certified in Internal Medicine, Hematology, and Medical Oncology, Dr. Kumar has dedicated his career to providing comprehensive, evidence-based care for patients with cancer and blood disorders.

Dr. Kumar earned his medical degree from Dow Medical College, one of Pakistan’s most prestigious medical institutions. He subsequently completed his Internal Medicine residency at Seton Hall Graduate School of Medical Sciences at Trinitas Regional Medical Center in New Jersey in 2013, where he developed a strong foundation in comprehensive adult medical care. He went on to complete his Hematology-Oncology Fellowship through the New York Medical College program at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in 2017, receiving advanced training in the diagnosis and treatment of hematologic disorders and malignancies.

Throughout his career, Dr. Kumar has held numerous leadership positions within the healthcare community. He currently serves as Chief of Hematology-Oncology at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Paterson, New Jersey, where he leads a multidisciplinary team dedicated to delivering innovative and compassionate cancer care. In addition, he serves as Program Director of the Hematology-Oncology Fellowship Program, mentoring and training future hematologists and oncologists. In 2022, he served as Chief of Medicine at Bayshore Hospital, where he played a key role in advancing clinical quality, physician engagement, and patient care initiatives. His dedication to medical education, healthcare leadership, and excellence in patient outcomes has earned him the respect of colleagues, trainees, and patients alike.

Known for his compassionate approach and commitment to individualized care, Dr. Kumar works closely with patients and their families to develop personalized treatment plans that incorporate the latest advances in oncology and hematology.
